First negative growth in per capita hospitalization costs in five years

In 2016, the average outpatient cost of hospitals was 245.5 yuan, an increase of 5.0 percent over 2015, and the increase rate was 1.3 percentage points lower than the previous year; the per capita hospitalization cost was 8604.7 yuan, an increase of 4.1 percent over 2015, and the increase rate was 2.1 percentage points lower than the previous year. Among them, the average outpatient drug expenses in hospitals accounted for 45.5, down 1.7 percentage points from the previous year; the per capita inpatient drug expenses in hospitals were 2977.5 yuan, accounting for 34.6 percent, down 2.2 percentage points from the previous year, showing negative growth for the first time in five years. The total national health expenditure is expected to reach 4634.49 billion billion yuan in 2016, of which personal health expenditure is 1333.79 billion billion yuan, the proportion decreased from 29.3 in 2015 to 28.8 in 2016.

The statistical results show that the effect of the comprehensive two-child policy is gradually being released. In 2016, two children and above accounted for more than 45% of the birth population, reaching the highest level since 2000.
